[Master’s students] Thesis advisor designation notice

Master’s students are encouraged to designate a thesis advisor as soon as they are admitted (Notes 1 and 2) by filling out the Thesis Advisor Designation Application and Consent Form and having it signed by the advisor (Note 3). The application must be submitted to the Department of Electrical Engineering Office by the first day of preliminary course selection (late August, with the exact date and the relevant information to be announced on the Department website between July and August).

Note 1: A student’s advisor must be a full-time faculty member in the same group. For example, a Group A student’s advisor must be a full-time faculty member of Group A. Please see the Department Website for a list of faculty members in each group. (Group A: Communication and Information; Group B: Systems and Control; Group C: Electronics; Group D: SOC)

Note 2: Faculty members contact information and bios are available on the Department ebsite. Students may contact faculty members via email or telephone. Please note that faculty members may not be in their office at all times. Students are advised to continue emailing or calling them until they get a response. Students may also schedule an in-person meeting or teleconferencing call with faculty members specializing in the field of research in which they are interested.

Note 3: Instructions on filling out the “advisor information” fields on the Thesis Advisor Designation Application and Consent Form: (New students are required to fill out the “chief advisor” fields highlighted in gray)

1) “Eligibility to serve as an advisor”: Choose the first option.
2) “Faculty identification number”: Leave blank.
3) “Affiliation”: Fill in “NCHU EE”.
4) “Faculty rank”: “Professor” or “Associate Professor” or “Assistant Profeesor”. [See the faculty list on the Department Website: http://www.ee.nchu.edu.tw/]
5) “Highest education degree”: Fill in “Doctoral degree”.
6) “Telephone”: Fill in “04-2284 0688”.

* Students will be solely responsible for any consequences resulting from late submission of the advisor designation form.
